The Royal Standard re-opened following a refurbishment Spring 2015. You will be greeted with a relaxed atmosphere with quirky decor, furnishings and fittings. Situated in Blackheath within minutes of Greenwich Park. The pubs history started way back in 1848 when William Wynn built the pub for the princely sum of £2000 and at one time it had its own Bowling Green and Quoits ground quoted as being the “Biggest in all of Kent”. These have since made way for a delightful patio garden, which enjoys the sun for most of the day, there is lots of cosy seating and eating areas, both inside and out. The Standard enjoys a varied mix of clientele from sports connoisseurs able to enjoy the rugby or football on our big screens to chill out areas where you can just relax on big sofas and read the paper. Real ale fans will be spoilt by the choice of local and national ales we regularly serve. Make sure you watch out for our monthly seasonal specials but every day, you can enjoy dishes such as starters of salt and pepper squid with lime mayonnaise; posh mushrooms on toast or hearty seasonal soups. We also have a great selection of fine wines, draught products, real ales and coffee plus free Wi-Fi access for those with a laptop or iphone. We are big on board games at the Standard, relax over a beer or a bottle of wine with friends and enjoy a game of scrabble or chess or one of the many other games we have.
