Built in the 16th Century, the Friend at Hand is a very traditional styled pub which still retains many original features. There is one main room with the two TVs and big screens to one end showing the major matches and a quieter area to the other end. The legendary Oscar Wilde used to drink here and the pub stands opposite the Colonnade, a famous horse hostel where the horses were kept which were used to transport the victims of the plague. Today we attract a really nice crowd, a mixture of tourists, students and regulars. We have opted for quality rather than cheap discounts. Popular for the food we serve from a good main menu, people tend to return again and again once they have tried us out. There is such a friendly, relaxed atmosphere here and the staff are so welcoming that once you have tried us, you too will want to return on a regular basis.
