Maenllwyd Inn in Rudry is a listed situated almost at the top of a mountain with splendid views over the valley. Built over 400 years ago of grey stone – the translation of its name, it was originally a farmhouse, then a bakery and for about the last 200 years, a pub. The main part of the original building still stands with the old doors, fireplaces and two welcoming fires still in use. The ceilings at their lowest point are 5′ 8″! We are extremely well known for our food and recognised in the Guardian Gastro Food Guide. We have the honour of being compared to the Walnut Tree, the well known restaurant in Abergavenny. Our aim is to serve the highest quality traditional pub food at good value for money prices. All our well sized meals can be chosen from either the main Chef & Brewer menu or very large regularly changing Specials menu. This includes at least three fresh fish dishes! Like all pubs of this type we employ highly skilled Chefs who prepare everything from the freshest of ingredients, all meals being cooked to order. You are welcome to take a look at our extensive wine list to complement your meal and why not finish with a cup of tea or coffee? We hope to see you this Sunday for our roast or any time during the week. A warm Welsh welcome is guaranteed.
