Prior to The Merlinopening in Summer 2012 a competition was held by Greene King to find a new name for the premises, being formerly called the Pride Park. They decided on ‘Merlin’ as it reflected the contribution Derby made building Rolls-Royce engines during the Second World War. The Merlin engine powered RAF fighter aircraft, such as the Spitfire, during the Battle of Britain. We are located on Pride Parkway, just 2 miles from Derby City Centre and 400 yards from Derby County Football Club. We therefore welcome friendly sports fans who enjoy our sports facilities. Our clientele are of a mixed age group and vary from workers in the nearby industrial estate to locals and families from the residential area. We are a family friendly pub and are famous for big value pub food and a well stocked bar with a tasty choice of drinks, beers and wine. We offer a really warm welcome, good facilities for the kids and adults, plus the ever popular Hungry Horse extensive menu where there is choice for everyone. Our high tech playzone will impress any child with it’s Play Station 3, Xbox Kinnect and interactive touch screens! There’s also table football and claw machines. This is not just a place to eat – it’s a great experience of entertainment and dining which keeps all the family entertained.
