The White Cart is located in the ‘old villages’ semi rural area of Glasgow at Busby. The countryside is just 5 minutes down the road and the town centre is a 15 to 20 minute drive from here. With a railway station across the road there is easy access to Glasgow 15 minutes away. There has been a pub on this site since the 1860’s and, known as the Old Railway Inn, this was a stopping off point for travellers. The building is black and white and part of it is listed. Some of the stone walls to the back are thought to be from former stables. It was rebuilt in 1996 and the present name comes from the River Cart which runs under the railway bridge and into the Clyde. There is a spacious interior with large oak beams dividing the room into more private areas and there are log fires to provide winter warmth. Outside in the summer you can dine al fresco on the small patio or have a refreshing drink at the tables in the car park. With few other pubs in the area this is a popular venue with the local regulars and is always welcoming and great. Food is freshly prepared and cooked to order with a good variety of tempting dishes. There is an impressive choice of wines and our Cask Marque accreditation and entry into ‘The Good Beer Guide’ means your real ale is served to perfection! Be sure to call in next time you are in the area and have a meal to remember in this friendly pub.
