The terrace of the Teuchters Landing on the Dock Road in Leith goes one better than fronting the water – it floats. You can sit on the boom of the lock gate. The Royal Yacht Britannia is moored 500 yards away and there are trendy eating and drinking places all around, but the Teuchters Landing with its conservatory backing on to the docks is the one place everyone heads for in the summer. In the winter the rooms of this one-time harbourmaster’s HQ are nice and cosy. Fish is the keynote of the menu and the quality is simply outstanding. Choosing an accompanying wine is simple having one of the most comprehensive wine menus in Edinburgh. If you are in the area, the experience and the food are not to be missed.
