The Pack Horse is ideally situated in the affluent village of Burnopfield. On the main A692 route from Gateshead to Consett, it is only 10 minutes from the Metro Centre and 15 from Newcastle City centre. The Beamish museum and Tanfield Railway are good local attractions. This is a large country pub, with modern contemporary decor, which was destroyed by fire in May 2002 and reopened in November of the same year. We are particularly popular for our pub food. There are traditional favourites on offer along with succulent grills and skewers as well as a range of snacks. Offers on food are often available, if you need an excuse to eat more. If you have room after your main course there are hot and cold desserts to choose from and an extensive range of freshly ground and specialty coffees to finish off an excellent meal. Fine wines come from a choice of 11 whites and 8 reds. During the summer months there is a really good beer garden and patio area, to relax and enjoy the warmer weather, with heaters for chillier nights. We hold a weekly quiz when you can win cash and prizes. All are welcome to come and test their knowledge. We draw a crowd from a wide area because of our friendly atmosphere, good food and drink and general pleasant, welcoming surroundings. We hope to see you soon.
