Lord Nelson is a 500 year old building which originally was a couple of cottages and a Coaching Inn called the ‘Hornbuckles’. This is a country-like pub in the middle of the City acting as an oasis for customers who enjoy food, drink and entertainment. We offer plenty of character with many brasses, real wooden beams and low ceilings. The pub is split into little rooms creating four main areas, the Posh room, Common room, the main bar and dining room. We also have the only beer garden in the area. Many locals come from some distance just to enjoy the good company and quality facilities. We are even popular with students. On a Sunday we serve a full Sunday roast lunch with choice of usually 3 meats and traditional accompaniments. Through the week, we serve snacks and meals until 2.30pm with toasties available all day. Our food is all freshly prepared and all meals can be complemented by a bottle of wine, we even have a selection of mini cellar wines. To complete an all round pub experience we hold a variety of entertainment each week. Our friendly and helpful staff all look forward to welcoming you soon.
