The Old Bell is in an unusual location on a small High street in Old Oxted. History has it that in the 15th Century a mayor decided he did not want any pubs in the town so he sent them packing. As a consequence the four pubs concerned moved just down the road to their present location. Today this attractive Elizabethan Hall house is on the crossroads of an ancient highway. In the early 20th Century the Old Surrey Hounds met here to start their day with a glass of port. Today a traditional style is maintained with open fires for winter warmth and comfort whilst nooks and crannies provide private corners for candlelit dining. The Old Bell is a Chef & Brewer pub which employs Chefs to prepare delicious meals from fresh ingredients. These meals are available everyday and can be chosen from either the main menu or Specials boards around the pub. To complement your chosen meal you have a selection of quality wines or real ales if preferred. Be sure to call in next time you are in the area and enjoy a memorable experience.
