The Blackmore Vale Inn is a 250 year old pub located in the village of Marnhull near Sturminster Newton. It features as ‘Rollivers’ in author Thomas Hardy’s ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’. In this famous novel, Hardy portrays a disreputable and illegal drinking house, where secret ale drinking groups gathered upstairs. It has been a family run business since 2006, with the managers having over 15 years pub trade experience and winning numerous awards over the years. This picture postcard pub is frequented by the regular locals and with skittle and dart teams it really is the heart of the village. This is a good traditional venue which is well maintained with where people come for the peace and tranquillity with rolling hills and lovely country villages around.
