The Thatched Tavern is based in the quaint hamlet of Maidencombe on the main coastal path only 300 yards from the beach. During the summer months there is a particularly pleasant atmosphere with holiday makers and day trippers all around. The original part of the building, ‘the cottage’, dates back to the 15th Century and has a beautiful thatched roof from which the pub derives its name. Over time the Tavern has been sympathetically extended to become the destination food house it is today. Given the pub’s age and it’s beach location we have a contrast of decor which works well. In the bar area there is oak flooring and granite walls which have an array of old and interesting photos displayed on them. There are comfy sofas and a fireplace where the fire is lit during the winter months – really cosy. In the other part of the pub it ties in well with our beach location and has a seaside theme with all new light wood furniture – the best of both worlds! We have a good reputation for food served from a main menu. Outside there is a very pretty garden with fish pond and wishing well, so make sure you stroll off the beach and into our garden for a lovely meal and a refreshing drink! We cater for occasions such as weddings, birthdays, funeral teas etc. and are happy to talk through your requirements. See you soon.
